The famous “what else can one think of” seems like it will never become old. Just when you think that technology couldn’t get higher than where it stands today, something new comes up and blow our minds.

The newest invention doesn’t come from the West, but directly from our Serbia. Marko Vučković along with a group of 3 guys, has invented a product which represents the unique juncture of nature and technology- the „Grasslamp“

Marko said that the lamp was invented as multi-functional object and that its primary purpose was enlightening the room. Its secondary purpose, however, is the one which has actually tickled our imagination. With the help of LED lighting and water, it enables the growth of wheat and edible salads.

Marko VuckovicThe thing that made him actualize this project, as he said, was his enormous love towards greenery and world around him. „There was a strong will to introduce the element of nature into the interior. I think that modern way of living needs that long lost connection“, the young scientist said.

Marko thinks that the greenery has a positive influence on every human being, and he has just given people the opportunity of having a piece of it in everyone’s working environment. He stressed that this product is timeless because while there is human race, there will be their need to connect with the nature.

However, the thing which represents the main obstacle on his way towards launching this modern product is finances. On the “Kickstarter” website they have started raising money for its realization, and until now they have raised 20 per cent of the needed 50.000 dollars.

“I think that Serbia is an ideal place for creative people like us, we are surrounded by the beautiful landscapes which are inspiration for our ideas. We are surrounded by the changes that are pushing us to change something”, Marko explained.

This young scientist has won the first award at Belgrade Design Week in 2013 within the project “Future Serbia”, financed by prestigious “Domus” academy from Milan.
