Here are a couple of suggestions that will ensure you have a great time in one of the most beautiful parts of Serbia!
1. The Magical Three: Mokra Gora, Drvengrad and the Šargan Eight
There’s a good reason for why people call Mokra Gora a “magnificent combination of nature, creativity and art”. With the fusion of these three elements one of the most unique destinations in Serbia was created. In the green hills of western Serbia stands an out-of-the-ordinary ethno village of Drvengrad. 2. Zlatibor: A mountain jewel at 1,000 m altitude
The title of one of the most popular destinations for vacationing, recreation and enjoying Serbia most certainly belongs to Zlatibor. This mountain named after the golden colour of its pine trees got this prestigious title not only because of its authentic nature but because of its traditional cuisine and the fun people have here.

The healthy clean air and the silence interrupted only by the occasional chirp are ideal conditions for relaxing and escaping the hustle and bustle of city life. And that’s exactly what makes Zlatar special. This mountain beauty will never give in to the trend of modern urban life and so it will always offer you intact nature.
4. Kremna: An unusual village with unusual prophecies
If you love untouched nature and interesting prophecies than you mustn’t miss an opportunity to visit a unique village located between mt. Zlatibor and mt. Tara. We’re talking about a place where valuable monuments from the 2nd and 3rd century are located and a location which got world known because of the most famous Serbian family of prophets – the Tarabić family.
This unusual family is also called the “family which predicted the history of Serbia”. The reason for this are the numerous prophecies and scripts left by the Tarabić family. In this idyllic village adorned by houses from the previous century and unreal nature, there is also the Prophet’s home where interesting objects, which testify of the life and work of this mysterious family, are kept. It’s up to you to discover them!
5. Sirogojno: A unique open-air museum
If you ever wondered how life in a mountain village in the 19th century looked like, then this amazing place near Zlatibor will certainly gain your attention! Be it for the customs or way of life it so authentically portrays, the history it strongly cherishes or the traditions it abides by, this unusual ethno village leaves no one indifferent.
The buildings of the “Old Village” (“Staro selo”) museum complex are certainly one of the greatest architectural accomplishments. However, it’s not only the architecture of this place that will fascinate you. Here you will have the opportunity to try many specialties of traditional Serbian cuisine and visit the interesting Weavers’ Museum. We mustn’t forget the traditional clothing with their signature “Sirogojno style”!
6. Her majesty: The komplet lepinja
One of the “treats” you simply have to try if you should find yourself in Western Serbia is most certainly the famous komplet lepinja. You’re wondering why? Because here is where the best komplet lepinja is made! But let’s set thing straight – this traditional Serbian specialty comes from Užice and we do recommend that you visit this interesting city and try this specialty there as well.
Of course, you won’t regret if you decide to try the komplet lepinja in any place in this region. Its taste is indescribable but we’ll try. We’re talking about the most beautiful combination of the highest quality prosciutto form Zlatibor, homemade kajmak, crispy buns, eggs and a thing called “pretop”. Sound delicious, doesn’t it?
7. Kamena Gora
In the place where nature is preserved in its most beautiful form, where the landscapes are decorated with colourful forests, deep gorges and most fragrant flowery meadows, that is where Kamena Gora and its famous symbol, the Holy pine, lie. Apart from seeing the oldest pine tree in Serbia, here you can enjoy fascinating landscapes and lookouts.
Kamena Gora has not only countless natural riches but a diverse animal life. Here, in the intact nature of this region, rare and interesting species found their home. 8. Uvac
And as per usual, we save the best for last! Uvac is most certainly one of the most beautiful places not only in Western Serbia but in the whole country! The combination of surreal meandres which nature created in the most miraculous manner and the most beautiful colors of the clear waters of lake Uvac, will quickly show you the magic this special nature reserve has in store for you.
The biggest cave complex in Serbia, numerous monasteries and a unique flora and fauna are just some of the things that make this nature’s masterpiece so special. And because of all this – forget your problems, listen to the sounds of nature and give in to the charms of this intact gem of nature…
