Find out why Šumadija is referred to as the heart of Serbia and enjoy a rich and varied program at the first Šumadija Wine Festival, which will be held on the 14th and 15th of June at the Royal Winery in Oplenac.

From Palić on the far north of the country, to Metohija in the south, nine Serbian Wine Routes hide numerous wine cellars with more than 700 quality and tastefull wines.

The Oplenac Wine Route, a place of the wine cellar of the Royal Family Karadjordjević, with a long tradition of growing autochthonous sorts of vines, such as Prokupac, Vranac and Smederevka, as well as the other sorts which certainly stand out with their quality and refined taste.

The two millenum old wine growing tradition, coupled with the favorable climate, as well as composition and configuration of the soil, have made wine from Serbia to become recognized for its high quality grapes.

At the first Šumadija Wine Festival you will have a unique opportunity to taste some of your favorite types of domestic Serbian wines, the authentic and magical Serbian traditional cuisine, as well as to enjoy the cultural and entertainment programs which will be presented during these two days.

To express empathy with all of those who were left homeless due to the recent floods in Serbia, the first Šumadija Wine Festival will also be an evenet with a humanitarian character. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales will be used to help restore flood-damaged areas.
