Charcoal-grilled specialities, generous local dishes and the lively spirit of a traditional kafana come together in the heart of Leskovac.
Where Leskovac Gathers Around the Grill
In a city celebrated throughout Serbia for its mastery of the grill, Restoran Koliba keeps the traditions of Leskovac firmly at the centre of the table. For around two decades, this welcoming ethno-style restaurant has brought together charcoal-grilled meat, slow-cooked dishes, abundant portions and the unmistakable energy of a southern Serbian kafana.
The menu offers a broad introduction to the region’s cuisine. Leskovac-style ćevapi, spicy uštipci, stuffed and gourmet pljeskavica and the local grilled meat ring known as leskovački đevrek are accompanied by mućkalica, trljanica, urnebes, prženija and peppers prepared in several traditional ways. Lamb and beef cooked beneath the sač, spit-roasted meat, homemade soups and warm lepinja with kajmak complete a meal rooted in the generous flavours of southern Serbia.
Koliba’s atmosphere is as important as its food. During the warmer months, tables spread across a large two-level garden with a small bridge and pond, while a glass-enclosed dining room with a fireplace creates a warm setting in winter. Live music, family gatherings and the restaurant’s long association with the Leskovac Roštiljijada preserve the sense that this is not simply somewhere to eat, but a place where the city’s relationship with food is celebrated.
