Nestled in the untouched nature of the village of Drenova, just 20 kilometers from the tourist center of Zlatibor, lies a serene natural gem – Vir Buk. Situated on the crystal-clear mountain river Katušnica, this charming natural pool is becoming an increasingly popular summer getaway for those seeking peace, authenticity, and refreshment.

With its emerald waters, cascading falls, and the soothing sound of the river echoing through the surrounding forest, Vir Buk is the perfect place to cool off during hot summer days. The setting is postcard-perfect: a deep river pool carved into the rock, shaded by thick forest, and surrounded by raw mountain beauty.

The bathing area is thoughtfully arranged, with a sandy beach, walking trail, and parking space, as well as sun loungers, umbrellas, and a summer bar offering cold drinks. For those seeking more than relaxation, the site also features a beach volleyball court and offers guided nature walks and eco-educational tours, allowing visitors to explore the river ecosystem and enjoy the adventure of walking through the riverbed itself.

Katušnica is rich in wildlife – from trout and chub in the waters, to deer, hares, pheasants, and numerous songbirds in the surrounding woods. The meadows and slopes around Drenova are dotted with wild herbs like St. John’s wort, thyme, and mint. This region is also known for wild cornelian cherry (dren), after which the village was named. Locals still make traditional jam and brandy from its fruit.

To protect and promote this natural oasis, the Tourism Association “BUK” Drenova was founded in December 2024, with the support of the Innovation Business Center Zlatibor. In partnership with local residents, the Čajetina municipality, and dedicated nature lovers, the association is developing a model of sustainable tourism that highlights the richness of nature, local products, and community-driven experiences.
