Traditional wooden cabins, homemade food and views across Uvac Lake create an authentic rural retreat on the slopes of Zlatar.
Mountain Life Above Uvac Lake
Set in the hamlet of Šipovik near the village of Radijevići, Šaponjića Kolibe offers a simple and authentic stay in one of the most striking landscapes of southwestern Serbia. The property lies on the slopes of Zlatar, above Uvac Lake and within easy reach of the viewpoints, waterways and protected habitats that define the Uvac Special Nature Reserve.
Accommodation is arranged across three compact wooden cabins inspired by the traditional shepherd shelters of the region. Each has its own bathroom and terrace overlooking the surrounding countryside. Different sleeping arrangements accommodate couples and smaller families, while the intimate scale of the property preserves the atmosphere of a peaceful mountain household rather than a conventional tourist resort.
A shared summer pavilion with a kitchen provides space for meals and relaxed gatherings outdoors. Guests can choose accommodation only or arrange breakfast, half board or full board. Homemade dishes prepared by the hosts introduce the flavours of Zlatar through local ingredients and the generous hospitality characteristic of rural southwestern Serbia.
Days can be spent walking towards the lake and nearby viewpoints, swimming during the warmer months or exploring the Uvac Canyon by boat. The hosts can also help organise excursions, griffon vulture watching and visits to the Ice Cave, while the surrounding meadows and forests invite quieter activities such as gathering medicinal herbs and mushrooms.
