Serbia beat Ukraine 2-1 (1-1) at Belgrade’s Arena late on Monday to qualify for the semifinals of the 2016 UEFA Futsal Championship, the biggest success of Serbian futsal so far.

Serbia’s Mladen Kocic opened the scoring in the third and Ukraine’s Mykola Grytsyna evened the score at one goal apiece in the 24th minute.

Serbia celebrated after Milos Simic scored the winning goal with only three seconds left until the end.

Just as the referees were about to blow the whistle, Simic sent the ball into the net, bringing great joy to over 11,000 spectators in the Arena, including Serbian Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovicic, who was among the crowd.

The minister paid a visit to the team beore the match kicked off to wish them luck.

In their first semifinal in history, Serbia will play either Russia or Azerbaijan on Thursday.
