From June 2016, after more than two decades, direct flights from Belgrade to New York will be performed. This line will enable the passengers’ simpler connections to numerous destinations around the world.
Five times a week, Airbus 330-200 will be flying on the relation Belgrade – New York, as was announced by Air Serbia.
This will be the first long-distance connection between Serbia and the USA after 24 years, and the first long-distance destination of Serbian Air Company after its foundation. The long-awaited air connection will provide better and easier connections of the two countries with cultural and commercial connections, increase the number of tourists, but also the number of people of Serbian origin who live and work in the USA.
According to the latest research, around 200.000 people of Serbian origin is currently in the USA. The largest number of members of Serbian diaspora live in Chicago and New York, and that number is constantly increasing if we include other Balkan countries.
