Traditional Zlatibor recipes, locally sourced ingredients and sweeping views of Čigota come together in a welcoming mountain tavern.
The Flavours of Zlatibor, Served with a View
Hidden among the quiet landscapes of Gajevi, around ten minutes by car from the centre of Zlatibor, Krčma Gaj offers a taste of the mountain away from its busiest streets. Its rustic setting and open views towards Čigota create the kind of atmosphere in which a simple meal naturally turns into a long and unhurried afternoon.
The menu is rooted in the traditional cooking of the Zlatibor region and recipes passed down through generations. Komplet lepinja, popara with cheese and kajmak, buckwheat kačamak, homemade pies, cured meats and local dairy products introduce guests to the ingredients and flavours that have shaped everyday life on the mountain.
Many of the ingredients come from Zlatibor and its surrounding countryside, strengthening the restaurant’s connection with the region. During warmer months, the terrace opens towards the mountain scenery, while the cosy interior preserves the spirit of a traditional Serbian tavern when winter covers the landscape in snow.
