There are no reports of any Serbian people being affected by the attacks in Brussels at the moment, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said Tuesday.
“No one has called our embassy in Brussels yet,” Dacic told Belgrade-based weekly Nedeljnik.
Nikolic extends condolences, condemns terrorist acts
Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic offered condolences to King Phillipe of Belgium over deaths and suffering of civilians in terrorist attacks in Brussels on Tuesday and most severely condemned the acts of terrorism. President Nikolic extended condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured people a speedy recovery, the president’s press office said in a release.
President Nikolic condemned in the strongest terms the acts of terrorism, adding that the attacks in Brussels showed terrorism’s most brutal form.
Nikolic said terrorism could only be confronted by a joint and uncompromising action involving all countries.
“I am confident that the organizers and accomplices will be quickly found and bear the consequences of their wrongdoings,” said Nikolic.
Gojkovic sends messages of condolences to Belgian colleagues
BELGRADE – Serbian Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic sent on Tuesday messages of condolences over the Brussels terrorist attack to President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Federal Parliament of Belgium Siegfried Bracke and President of the Senate Christine Defraigne.
“We were deeply shocked by the news of the terrorist attack in Brussels which claimed the lives of innocent citizens. We extend our solidarity and support to the Belgian people and authorities in the fight against terrorism that threatens the common values of democracy and human rights. Please accept our support at this difficult moment and convey our deepest condolences to the families of the victims,” the parliament quoted Gojkovic as saying.
