Serbia’s best female athlete Ivana Spanovic kicked off her 2016 season with a long jump victory at the Indoor Meeting in Dusseldorf late on Wednesday.

In her first long jump competition of the year, Spanovic leaped out a world-leading 6.79m in the third round, which is the meeting’s record as well.

Germany’s 21-year-old Alexandra Wester was second with 6.72m, and the bronze-medallist Briton Sarah Proctor jumped 6.69m.

Spanovic will next compete at the IAAF World Indoor Tour meeting in Stockholm on February 17.
