Representatives of several associations of photographers called on Monday on MPs not to pass the draft interpretation of the Law on Copyright and Related Rights, which considers electronic photographs to be “the result of mechanical actions, of routine, physical actions” that should not covered by copyright protection.
Representative of the Photography Development Center Zvezdan Mancic said that photographers were standing up against the degradation of their profession.
“I am sure that MPs do not fully understand these matters, so we are here to inform them and the public, in whose interest we make photographs,” Mancic told a news conference.
Representative of the Association of Photojournalists of Serbia Srdjan Ilic said it would not be good for the public, media or photographers that this interpretation be passed.
