Five mineral springs in Niška banja (The spa of Niš), a spa known since Roman times, offer an ideal place for relaxation, recreation and treatment.

Niška banja (the Spa of Niš) is located only 9 kilometers from the city of Niš, at the foot of Mt. Suva planina. Traces of the Neolithic civilization from 3,300 BC were found in it, and during the time of the Romans, this was a well known health resort. A Roman bath with two pools richly decorated with mosaics remain as proof.

Curative mineral waters from this spa were not only used here, but were also transported to Mediana, luxury residence of Roman emperors from the time of the Constantine the Great. During the Turkish rule, Niška banja (the spa of Niš) was a resting place of the Turkish emperor Suleiman.

Green slopes of Mt. Koritnjak hide the park-forest with the same name and an ideal place for relaxation, recreation and rehabilitation. This spa is blessed with mild continental climate, and it abounds in thermo-mineral waters and curative mineral mud.

Waters from five mineral springs are all so-called soil-alkaline homeothermes (36-38°C), mildly mineralized.

How to get to the spa of healing waters?

Niška Banja is in south-east Serbia, next to the Niš-Sophia highway, 10 km from Niš and 250km from Belgrade.There are bus routes from all the major cities in Serbia but the ones from Niš are much more frequent.

From Niš it is possible to take a taxi (around 600 din for a ride), or a local bus- Line 1 Minovo naselje-Niška Banja which you can get in the centre of town, across the “Ambasador” hotel.
