The World Bank is ready to help Serbia benefit from the implementation of new technologies in the next four-five years, so that the country could make a shift from an economy driven by the public sector to an economy driven by the private sector, Country Manager for Serbia Tony Verheijen said on Thursday.

At the presentation of a World Bank study titled “World Development Report 2016: Digital Dividends”, Verheijen said it had turned out that the countries investing in digital technologies had posted a bigger growth.

The number of digital technology users is growing, which opens up greater opportunities. However, we know that many do not even have access to new technologies, he said.

Verheijen also underlined the need for more investment in infrastructure and promotion of public-private partnerships.
