Zdravko Tolimir’s life was far more important than all requests of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), and that is what the crucial issue is, not whether anyone had influenced witnesses, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said Thursday.

Someone has to answer the question why that man died in detention, Vucic told reporters.

“Gentlemen, Mr. Orie, and everyone at the ICTY, learn to respect the Republic of Serbia and then we will continue to talk in keeping with Serbian laws,” Vucic said in response to the treatment of Serbia’s legal representative, whom the tribunal refused to hear on Wednesday.

It is incomprehensible that the Serbian government has still not received a reply to a request that Tolimir be released for medical treatment, Vucic said, adding that no one will humiliate Serbia.
