PM Aleksandar Vucic said Serbia would engage in resolving the migrant crisis, but not to the detriment of its own economy, and Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz said his country was particularly affected by the crisis as both a transit and destination country.

At a joint press conference with the Austrian minister, Prime Minister Vucic said that he would like to see a comprehensive European solution for the migrant crisis:

“But, I am afraid I will not see it soon,” Vucic noted.

Concerning the migrant crisis, Kurz said his country received 90,000 asylum seekers last year.

This year, we curtailed the number, and we are aware this could have repercussions along the Balkans route for migrants. However, I wanted to inform you that the situation could change, and that we are willing to back the governments to stem the tide of refugees, he said.
