Selters Spa has always attracted numerous visitors to this little spa paradise under Mt. Kosmaj thanks to its water that has been bottled since 1900 and that at that time could be found in pharmacies across France, Germany and Belgium as the exceptionally curative water.

At the eastern foothill of Mt. Kosmaj that rises as an island above Šumadija lies the town of Mladenovac with Selters Spa in it. Thanks to its characteristics it was named after the famous spring and mineral water “Selters” from Germany that springs out in the Taunus mountain range near Frankfurt.

The biggest treasure of this relatively “young” spa lies in two springs of hot mineral water that not only was named after the famous German spa, but thanks to its unique and exceptionally curative characteristics is compared to the most famous water of its kind in the world – the spring in Ems in Germany, as well as to other famous springs in France and Germany.

Curative water, known also as the “Serbian Selters”, springs out on the mild slopes of Mt. Kosmaj, in the area that abounds with mineral springs. This region of exceptional natural features, mild and pleasant climate due to the unique wind rose and fresh air rich with ozone, represent the main characteristics of this small spa in the very heart of Šumadija.

Mineral springs were discovered at the location of the today’s Selters Spa in the late 19th century at the depth of 239 meters. They were discovered quite accidentally at a farm of a rich merchant during the drilling of a well for livestock watering.

Soon enough the water was proven to be exceptionally curative and Selters spa recorded visit of 2,000 guests at a time when nearby Mladenovac had only 1,000 inhabitants. The construction of a bath, bottling of the mineral water and exporting to Europe started soon after.

At first a small spa transformed during the 60-ties of the 20th century into a significant spa center. A new open pool and specious coniferous park with flower alleys, decorative plants and attractive walking trails were opened.

Today Selters is a modern spa and a rehabilitation center that offers rest, relaxation and recovery. Only 1,5 km from the spa is the center of Mladenovac, so after a short walk you can also get to know this Serbian town.

In the spa visitors have a modern rehabilitation center for diagnostics and therapy, an indoor pool, a bathroom with baths in Salters mineral water at their disposal.

The Selters water is successfully used for treatment of diseases of respiratory system (bronchitis, laryngitis), chronicle stomach and intestines diseases (gastritis and colitis), chronic diseases of the liver and biliary tract (hepatitis), chronic urinary tract diseases, heart diseases, as well as light forms of hypertension, diseases of peripheral vascular system and posttraumatic conditions.

In therapy the water is used for drinking, for baths and inhalation. The Spa has two springs of clean hot water of salty taste. This water is also bottled and recommended for drinking during difficult works.

The nearby Mt. Kosmaj, favorite picnic site of all inhabitants of Mladenovac as well as Belgraders, will enrich visitors stay in the spa, while a pleasant walk in the park-forest will reveal three “hidden” monasteries – the Pavlovac, the Tresije and the Kasteljan monasteries.

Lots of sunny days will please all those eager for an active holiday. Only 6 km from Mladenovac lies Markovačko lake that abounds in fish. The lake is surrounded with a fragrant ambient of oak forest. All passionate fishermen will surely be delighted by rich catch.

After a break in the spa head for Topola and Oplenac where you can visit the Mausoleum of the Karađorđević dynasty – the St. George Church, Karadjordje’s town and the House of Petar I Karadjordjević.

And since you’re now visiting the fertile vine-growing region, you shouldn’t miss trying a glass or two of wine from some of wine cellars in Topola.
