Commending Serbia for its active role in formulating the agenda, Udovicki said she expected the working group to adopt a sustainable development vision and define departmental policies aimed at achieving specific goals, the minister’s office said in a release.
“We should not take global goals for granted, but we need to adjust them to meet the specificities of our society,” she said, underlining the need for a control mechanism.
UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia Irena Vojackova Sollorano congratulated Serbia on the set-up of the working group.
“This is a major success. I am sure Serbia will continue playing an active role in this process at national level, involving in it the NGO sector, academicians and experts, media and the corporate sector,” Sollorano said, pointing to the compatibility of the process with that of EU integration.
