The European Union is “a beacon of hope and change” for Serbia, especially now that Europe is facing challenges such as terrorism, conflicts and large influx of migrants, Serbian Public Administration and Local Self-Government Minister Kori Udovicki said in Brussels Monday.

Udovicki, who attended the inaugural meeting of the EU Committee of the Regions Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) with in the Republic of Serbia, said that the JCC was a mechanism for making Serbian local and regional authorities directly involved in the EU accession process, which was moving into a new phase.

Udovicki said that Serbia needed a modern, rational, professional, transparent and depoliticised public administration, adding that the Serbian government had a clear vision of how to transform its public administration to prepare it for becoming part of the EU administrative space.
