Serbia is through to the Davis Cup World Group quarter-finals after beating Kazakhstan 3-2 thanks to Viktor Troicki’s 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 win over Alexander Nedovyesov in the decisive fifth match on Sunday.

On the strength of Novak Djokovic’s thrilling victory over Mikhail Kukushkin, Troicki justified the role of favourite in front of a vocal home crowd and won the match after an hour and 51 minutes in what could be described as a routine display.

Serbia will host Great Britain in the quarter-finals on July 15-17.
