Originally built according to the project of the architect Dušan Živanović as a one storey building it was home to the State Council and the Central Control of the Kingdom of Serbia. In 1920 the addition of the second floor was completed by following the original project.
Four years later, another project for annex building was done by the Russian imperial architect Nikolai Krasnov, the author of numerous buildings of state administration in Nemanjina Street. It was then that the building got its quadrangular form with inner courtyard. Then in 1959 the third floor was added.
After the World War II, the Federal Planning Bureau and the Federal Statistical Office were located in this building, only for the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia to move here in 2004.
