Fluctuations of the dinar-to-euro exchange rate are expected for this time of year and the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) will do everything to maintain maximum stability of the exchange rate in 2016, says NBS Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic.

This year, the NBS bought over EUR 950 million and sold around EUR 450 million, she told the B92.

Tabakovic expressed the hope that the depreciation of the foreign exchange rate will be neither insufficiently low nor too high and that it will stimulate economic growth and remain within the boundaries of business predictability.

Asked why citizens still do not feel the benefits of the fiscal consolidation implemented by the government, she responded that “Rome was not built in one day, either.”

Our measures can produce no effects in less than six months, so time and patience are needed, Tabakovic noted.
