Serbia is stable and secure and there are no immediate threats of terror attacks or people identified as perpetrators of planned terror attacks, says Serbia’s Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic.

Twenty-six Serbian citizens who have gone to fight in Syria are still there, seven have returned, while eight are believed to have been killed there, Stefanovic told the RTS late Tuesday.

Serbian security services are monitoring the situation, he said.

“Serbia is peaceful, secure and stable. Impulses of instability come in from the region from time to time, but we want to cooperate with all neighbours and show that we are not against Islam. Muslims in Serbia may feel secure and those who are planning terror attacks are the ones who should be afraid”, Stefanovic said.

Police presence and intelligence work has been boosted on all borders, he said.
