Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic and Swedish Ambassador to Serbia Christer Asp signed two agreements on EUR 9 million Swedish assistance to the Serbian Interior Ministry (MUP) in Belgrade Thursday.

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency is making a donation for a Serbia-Sweden police cooperation program and supporting a program to enhance strategic governance and European integration processes in the Serbian MUP.

Ambassador Asp said that Serbia had made a major step forward by opening the first two chapters in EU accession negotiations, adding that the focus would now turn on Chapters 23 and 24, where the Ministry of the Interior would play an important role.
