Dragoljub Zamurović, “painter” with a camera, finds nature beauties of Serbia and amazing scenes of everyday life to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration. This extraordinary artist has recorded landscapes of Serbia, photographed from the air by means of a balloon, the way that no one ever did before him.
Dragoljub Zamurović is considered one of the most prominent Serbian photographers of our time. He has won many awards for his photography both at home and abroad. Among the many magazines that publish his photographs are the “Time“, “Geo”, “Epoca”, “Newsweek”, “Euro”, “National Geographic.” The renowned American magazine LIFE has twice published his photographs in its ‘Big Pictures’ feature and in July 1991 one of his photographs appeared on the front cover.
He is the author of several photographic monographs that in addition to our country, were published in America, Russia, England, Germany, Kazakhstan, Italy and Japan. The most significant photographic monographs are: Gipsies of the World, Kazakhstan, Medugorje, Kazan, Serbia – Life and Customs, Vojvodina, Sarajevo, Montenegro, Serbia – the Danube Basin and the facsimile edition of The Sarajevo Haggadah.
Since 1980 he has been a member of the Association of ULUPUDS (Association of Applied Artists and Designers of Serbia), which awarded him the title of Distinguished Artist in 1997. In 1988 he began cooperation with the French Gamma Agency under the pseudonym Art Zamur.
Dragoljub Zamurović was born in Niš (Serbia) in 1947. After graduating from the Faculty of Architecture at Belgrade University he went on to complete his postgraduate studies in photography at the Faculty of Applied Arts.
Over one hundred color photographs from the sales gallery Dragoljub Zamurović depict enormous wealth and diversity of landscapes, places, people and customs of many peoples who inhabited Serbia since ancient times.
Photos were taken during the author’s travels in Serbia, where he recorded more than 104,000 slides.
