There is a realistic chance of negotiation chapter 23 in Serbia’s EU accession talks being opened between March and June next year, Serbian Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic said on Wednesday.

Speaking to the RTS, the minister said that he also expects his ministry to put maximum effort in January into work on the draft law on the origin of property, which he said is probably the most significant anti-corruption law.

“We have been working on that law since September. It will envision something that is called the penalty tax rate – increased tax rates for people who cannot prove the origin of certain property,” Selakovic said.

Amendments to the penal code regarding crimes against the economy will be defined in the first two months of 2016, which is the first measure in implementing the strategy of investigating financial crimes, he said.
