The Serbian software industry ranks between the 30th and 50th position in international rankings – higher than any business sector in the country – and is registering a constant growth of exports, with the number of software companies growing every year, the National Business Review reports.

In Serbia, there are about 2,000 IT companies, which employ 6,000 highly trained professionals, and the country tops the list of attractive destinations for the world’s biggest IT companies, says the magazine, established by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the Institute of Economics.

This is also confirmed by the most recent PricewaterhouseCoopers survey titled Shared Services-the Edge Over, in which participants highlighted the attractiveness of Eastern European countries as their future locations, the review said.

Research has shown that 50,000-100,000 jobs in new IT sectors could be created in Serbia by 2020 and that currently there is demand for around 30,000 IT professionals, while only 1,000-1,500 graduate every year, the report said.
