The rule of law is one of the three pillars of EU enlargement we call “essential things first”, and the Netherlands adheres to this completely and stays ready to assist Serbia in this priority field, said Dutch Ambassador in Belgrade Hendrik Gerrit Cornelis Van Den Dool.

To back this, the Netherlands last year intensified its efforts in the field of rule of law in the entire region by establishing the Regional Rule of Law unit, the Ambassador of the Netherlands, the country which assumed the EU Presidency on January 1, told the Danas daily.

The main goal of intensifying this policy is twofold. On one hand, we wanted to establish a center of knowledge for issues relating to the rule of law. On the other hand, we believe this regional approach will yield effects, he said.
