The budget deficit that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) would consider acceptable at the end of the first quarter is RSD 62 billion, but I expect it to be far lower- around RSD 15 billion, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday.

“Even RSD 62 billion would be a good result after three months, approved by the IMF and WB, but I do not think it would exceed RSD 15 billion for this period. This is 47 billion less than planned, and it is possible to be even 48-49 billion better than planned,” Vucic said in the town of Koceljeva, where he toured a school.

If results stay this good in the next quarter, teachers and health care workers could get another rise in salaries, the prime minister signalled.
