A plane carrying the bodies of Sladjana Stankovic and Jovica Stepic, the two Serbian embassy staffers killed in an US air strike in Libya, is expected to arrive in Belgrade around 6 pm, Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has announced.

The plane should be taking off in Tripoli as we speak, Dacic told TV Pink early Tuesday, adding that the plane will land in Istanbul, from where the bodies will be transferred to Belgrade on a scheduled flight.

Enormous efforts have been made to secure an overflight permit, he said.

He dismissed allegations that the two had been involved in arms trade.

Dacic also said that Serbia is seeking an investigation into whether the US knew that the Serbian nationals were at the site targeted by the strikes.

“The Americans say that they did not know, but we need evidence – our services say that they had informed them,” Dacic said.
