The opposition Democratic Party (DS) is more ready for the forthcoming general elections than ever, said its leader Bojan Pajtic, calling on citizens to join the party in the fight for a more free, dignified and well-ordered country.

He said at a meeting of the DS Main Board on Sunday that the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) had lost a fifth of its voters in the past eight months and that its estimated voter turnout fell by a quarter, adding that this was the reason why Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic decided to call snap parliamentary elections.

If two in three citizens go to the polls, (SNS leader and PM) Vucic will be history, Pajtic believes.

He summed up the DS programme: a dynamic market economy, strong welfare state, efficient public administration and the rule of law.
