The secretary general of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Veljko Odalovic, said Wednesday that he expects the autopsy on the bodies of the two Serbian diplomats killed in an US air strike in Libya to be completed during the day.

To ascertain all the circumstances of the deaths of embassy staffers Sladjana Stankovic and Jovica Stepic, a re-autopsy is being conducted after an initial autopsy in Libya, Odalovic told TV Pink.

The re-autopsy began immediately after the bodies were transferred to Belgrade late Tuesday and continued through the night, he said.

Efforts to shed light on the unfortunate incident will be continued in the days to come, and Serbian Ambassador to Libya Oliver Potezica will have to answer many questions, Odalovic said.

“I have told him that there will be questions that will require his official clarification,” he said.

Dacic: Potezica to make another official statement

BELGRADE – Serbian Ambassador to Libya Oliver Potezica will make another official statement on the circumstances of the abduction of the two Serbian embassy staffers who were killed in a US air strike last week after being held hostage since November, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has said.

Potezica has already made a statement in Tripoli, but will do so again, most likely in Belgrade, Dacic said on an RTS talk show late Tuesday.

Potezica will be recalled and an agreement on this had been reached earlier on, Dacic also said.

The minister said that he will in the coming days discuss with Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic the status of Serbian embassies in crisis-hit Middle Eastern regions.

He said that he does not believe that the embassy in Libya will be closed and refused to rule out the possibility of it being relocated.
