According to the data provided by Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, during the first months of this year a large increase, by 43% to be precise, in the number of British tourists visiting and staying overnight in Serbia has been recorded, stated the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia.
The Daily Mirror, a popular British newspaper agency, reported that the top destinations for British tourists in 2016 are Colombia, Serbia, Cape Verde and Thailand. And, with an 47.6% increase in departures from British airports, Serbia is the second most popular destination.
Promotional campaigns in the United Kingdom have also been announced. This spring, journalists and reporters from the daily British newspapers the Independent and the Guardian, as well as from the prestigious tourist magazine the Wanderlust will visit Serbia and its National Tourism Organisation. A campaign for family vacations by the Family Traveller magazine and portal is also in preparation and various TV crews have shown interest in Serbia as well.
The National Tourism Organisation of Serbia supports British travel organisers such as the Regent Holidays and the Explore travel companies. It also organizes travel programs and itineraries for Serbia in collaboration with Air Serbia, the Tourist Organization of Belgrade and other local tourism organisations.
