The construction of a highway connecting Nis, Merdare, Pristina, Tirana and Durres is one of the priority infrastructure projects, Serbian Transport Minister Zorana Mihajlovic and EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc said in London on Monday.

“This highway is of major importance for the region. One of the lanes of the Nis- Pristina highway will open in both directions by 2023,” the ministry cited Mihajlovic as saying after the meeting.

Mihajlovic and Bulc met on the sidelines of the Western Balkans Investment Summit organised by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London, which brought together the prime ministers from the Western Balkans and leading businesspeople.

After the meeting, Mihajlovic took part in a panel on the trans-European transport and energy networks and regional connectivity.
