A memorandum of cooperation in the development of elements of dual education in secondary vocational education in Serbia, aimed at significantly reducing the rate of unemployment of young people, was signed at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) Tuesday.

The memorandum, which provides for Austria supporting Serbia in introducing dual education it its education system, was signed by Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria Sebastian Kurz, President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Christoph Leitl, Serbian Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Srdjan Verbic and PKS President Marko Cadez.

Leitl said that while Europe in general was facing a major problem with youth unemployment, it was very low in countries employing dual education.

Austria looks at future of Serbian economy with optimism

BELGRADE – President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Christoph Leitl promised on Tuesday, in a meeting with Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic, Austria’s further support to Serbia.

We look at the future of the Serbian economy with considerable optimism, Leitl said.

Sertic talked with the Leitl-led delegation of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber about possible improvements in Serbia-Austria economic relations. During the meeting, the Austrian officials underlined the importance of political stability, legal security and investment protection for attracting investors to Serbia, the ministry of economy said in a release.

Much work still lies ahead of Serbia, and one of the main objectives is to encourage private business initiatives, the minister said, referring to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular.
