There will be a hike in the electricity price in May next year, in an effort to align it with the market price, with a possibility for further increase in 2017, reads a memorandum of understanding with the International Monetary Fund, on which Belgrade-based daily Politika reported in its Wednesday issue.

The memorandum also sets out that Serbian Railways, Electric Power Industry of Serbia, Roads of Serbia and Srbijagas should go through the right-sizing process next year, the daily adds.

EPS will axe around 1,000 jobs next year- most people will retire, and a small number of employees will get fired. As of July 1, EPS should be transformed into a stock company.

Railways will shed 2,800 employees in 2016, notes the daily.
