Vucic and the representatives discussed the retailer’s plans to build a distribution centre and 20 outlets in Serbia, the government press office said in a statement.
The first Lidl retail outlet has already been built in Smederevo and 20 more will be built in 2016 and 2017, the representatives said, adding that a distribution centre in Nova Pazova will be completed by May 2017.
After that, all Lidl outlets in Serbia – which will employ around 1,000 people – will be opened simultaneously and the company has long-term plans to open 100 outlets in the country.
Vucic said that the Lidl chain will enable Serbian producers to export to countries around the world.
