Serbian Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic met with Dutch Ambassador to Serbia Henk Van den Dool Monday to talk about priorities of the Dutch presidency of the European Union and Serbia’s European integration.

Speaking about the Dutch presidency priorities, Van den Dool stressed that they included economic growth, increasing employment and finding a comprehensive approach to resolving the migrant crisis, the Serbian government’s press office said in a release.

The ambassador lauded Serbia for making constructive efforts in tackling the migrant crisis and for showing respect for European standards and values in the treatment of migrants.

Joksimovic and Van den Dool expressed expectations that Chapters 23 and 24 would open during the Dutch presidency as the Netherlands was paying particular attention to the rule of law, and those chapters were vital to not only the integration process but also the entire reform process in Serbia.

Van den Dool said that the reform process and the European integration process would continue uninterrupted regardless of the forthcoming parliamentary elections, stressing that it was a clear signal that Serbia was a stable country that was now firmly on the road to the EU, the release said.
