
Todor Mancic of the National Association of Parents of Children with Cancer (NURDOR) told Tanjug that a lot of people had showed up to support the campaign, and the atmosphere in Belgrade could not be spoiled even by the strong downpour of rain around noon today.
Visitors had the opportunity to purchase balloons and promotional items and it that way help the construction of a new children’s hematology and oncology department in Nis.
“We hope that the government will help us with the VAT, which is about EUR 40,000. We would start the project as early as beginning of April,” said Mancic.
Around 350 children get diagnosed with a malignant disease in Serbia every year, with leukemia being the most common cancer in children.
The percentage of success in treament is between 70 and 85 percent.
