After nearly eight years of dedicated work, international collaboration, and carefully developed production, the long-awaited film “Gospodar Oluje” (Master of the Storm) is finally ready to meet its audience. More than just another regional project, this ambitious sci-fi adventure represents one of Serbia’s most important breakthroughs onto the global film stage in recent decades.
This is not simply a local film with international participation. Gospodar Oluje is the first authentic Hollywood–Serbia co-production, created with a clear vision: to present the region as an equal and relevant partner in the global film industry.
The film is directed and written by Zoran Lisinac, co-author of the record-breaking hit Toma, and Croatian filmmaker Domagoj Mažuran, for whom this is his feature-film debut.
Their collaboration brings together the experience of major productions and a fresh creative sensibility, resulting in a film that combines Hollywood-scale spectacle with distinctive Balkan emotional depth.
The producer of the film is Neb Chupin, known for his work on major international projects featuring stars such as John Travolta and John Malkovich. Executive producers include Vladimir Lisinac and Miroslav Mogorović, both highly respected figures in Serbian cinema.
The project was supported by the Serbian Film Incentives Program, further highlighting its importance for the country’s creative industry.
The story is set three centuries after the Great Flood, in a world where continents have vanished and humanity survives on scattered islands, constantly threatened by an endless, destructive Storm.
The only known refuge is the fortified city-state of Argos, reachable only through deadly trials known as Storm Riding.

In this harsh reality, two young rebels begin to question imposed limits. Their journey is not merely an escape – it is a search for truth about the origins of their world, a secret guarded for centuries by the mysterious, immortal rulers of Argos known as the Founders.
Through its post-apocalyptic setting, the film explores universal themes such as : freedom and control, truth and manipulation, individual courage versus powerful systems, hope in a seemingly lost world.
Gospodar Oluje brings together an impressive international ensemble: James Cosmo, Caroline Goodall, Marco Ilsø, Sara Sofie Boussnina. They are joined by leading regional stars: Goran Bogdan, Sergej Trifunović, and Ivana Dudić. This blend of international and regional talent adds authenticity and depth to the story.
In addition to breathtaking scenes filmed along the Adriatic coast, significant parts of the movie were shot in Serbia – at Kalemegdan Fortress and in the Tašmajdan tunnel in Belgrade.
These locations were transformed into futuristic landscapes of a post-flood world, demonstrating Serbia’s strong potential as a destination for major international productions.
“Gospodar Oluje” has already been highlighted in American media as one of the most exciting sci-fi releases of 2026.
This makes it the first regional film to achieve such wide theatrical release in the United States.
Beyond its impressive scale and high production value, Gospodar Oluje stands out for what it represents for Serbian cinema. The film marks Serbia’s confident step into the circle of serious international co-production partners, reflecting the growing trust placed in regional talent and creative expertise.
At the same time, it highlights the emergence of a new generation of filmmakers who think globally while staying rooted in local identity. Through this project, Serbia’s film industry demonstrates that it possesses the knowledge, vision, and creative strength to participate in global trends – not as a supporting player, but as an equal and respected force on the international stage.
