The Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament (EP) welcome the opening of the first chapters in Serbia’s accession negotiations with the European Union, EP ‘Friends of Serbia’ informal group said Wednesday.
The news of Serbia opening its first chapters is very good news for everyone, said MEP and president of the Friends of Serbia group Emilian Pavel.
Our group welcomes and strongly encourages these developments.
We look forward to the forthcoming opening of Chapter 23, Judiciary and fundamental rights and Chapter 24, Justice, freedom and security. They are of vital significance and will bring Serbia much needed progress, said Pavel.
Serbia opened Chapter 32, Financial control and Chapter 35, concerning the normalization of relations with Pristina, on Monday.
