Within the project “Blago nama“ the Belgrade Museum organizes the exhibition „Biti Rimljanin“ (English: To Be Roman), that will be open for visitors every weekend till September in the building of the Belgrade Assembly. With this exhibition the National Museum reveals, presents and explains the historical epochs, identities of the city of Belgrade and diverse events that over time have made this city great and unique.
The visitors of the exhibition “Biti Rimljanjin“ will have the opportunity to see the unique testimonies of time during which one Empire united traditions, experiences and beliefs of different cultures that developed on three continents. Carefully chosen masterpieces of Roman art and toreutics from the collections of National Museum will speak of interweaving of cultures and nations, Roman military, triumphs and cosmopolitanism.
By discovering segments of private and public life of the ancient Singidunum, we will be able to recognize the importance of transformation, overlapping of indigenous and new, as well as the beauty arising from the uniqueness and multi-ethnicity.
The exhibition is a part of the project organized in order to present the origin and development of Belgrade, its culture, as well as private and public lives of people who formed this city as we know it today. The project provides insight into cultural heritage as an important part of Belgrade’s identity.
The exhibition “Biti Rimljanin” will be open for visitors every Saturday and Sunday, from 10 to 17. The entrance is free. Guided tours will be organized at 1 p.m.
