This year’s ambient theater festival “Tvrđava teatar” (Fortress Theatre) is being held from July 11th till July 20th under the slogan “Pan teatricum”.
Plays created in a variety of modern, authentic directorial approaches and manuscripts, and based on texts of all genres of drama in the time span of half a millennium, will be performed at the Smederevo Fortress under the clear night sky.
The play “Transition” performed by the theatre Pan opticum from Germany is opening the Festival on July 11th.
It is being followed by the plays “Kanjoš Macedonović” by the Belgrade National Theatre, “Noć u kafani Titanik” (Night at the Titanic pub) by the theatre from Kragujevac, “Zbogom SFRJ” (Goodby SFRY) by Atelje 212, the play “Bunar” (Well), “Višnjik” (The Cherry Orchard) by Chekhov and “Ja sam vetar” (I am the wind) by Jun Fose and directed by Stevan Bodroža.
Awards for the best play, direction and actor will be awarded at the festival.
The Festival also gathers young people from France, Germany and Serbia who will be working with the French director Alban Varet on the international youth production of street theatre on the theme of cultural diversity as a wealth of European identity. The play is a part of the project IDEAL supported by the European Union through the program “Podrška civilnom društvu” (Support to civil society).
Plays will be performed at the Small and the Big Town at the Smederevo Fortress and at Republic Square. Street theatres from Italy and Austria will perform artistic-juggling performances, mostly for younger audience, at the Square.
The ticket price for the programs at the Small Town is 400 RSD, and a set of tickets for all programs is 2,500 RSD.
