The Public Competition of the “Omladina” Festival

A new chance for the young, after 20 years! A once legendary festival “Omladina” (Youth) in Subotica is back in the spotlight this year, and it has announced a public competition for the new and original works by composers and songwriters from Serbia and the region.

The competing authors must be 27 years or younger.

A manifestation in which a number of the most famous bands and singers from the entire former Yugoslavia have started their careers shall be held on the 8th of December with TV and radio broadcast, and all the authors of the selected compositions will have the oportunity to perform in the festival.

The authors of the songs performed in the festival shall be awarded with 15.000 dinars, while the winners of The Award of the Jury and The Audience Award shall get 120.000 dinars as well.

Beside that, the organisers guarantee the authors and performers of the selected compositions the publishing of the songs on a CD, program catalogue, poster and the rest of the festival’s press material.

Compositions sent to the competition must not be previously published or publicly performed.

The competition is open until the 1st of October, and the final list will be announced by the 15th of October on the festival’s web site.
