For the twelfth time in a row, the city of Novi Sad will host the Street Artist Festival from September 6th till September 9th.
The Festival opens on Thursday, September 6th, with the concert at Trg slobode (Liberty Square) by the international band “Playing for Change”, a group of world renowned street musicians.
The members of the band became popular after the director Mark Johnson filmed a documentary in which the members of “Playing for Change” perform the song “Stand by Me” simultaneously, each one in different surroundings, in several countries on all five continents.
The director Mark Johnson will be filming parts of this year’s Festival to include in his new documentary film about the street musicians across the world, and he is going to chose one local musician who will be included in this international family of street musicians thus making him a part of the “Playing for Change” project.
More than 100 performers from the entire Europe, including eight performing troupes (mostly musicians and dancers) from different corners of Serbia, elected after the competition for the performance at the Festival, are performing in the official program of the Festival.
This year the Street Artist Festival has humanitarian character, so all performers will give their entire incomes that will be collected in hats during each performance to the Shelter for kids who live and/or work in the street in Novi Sad.
Eighteen attractive music programs and different art performances from Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Holland, England, Italy, France, Greece, Slovenia and Croatia are prepared.
