Homolje Themes

The unique exhibition of traditional folk arts and crafts from the eastern Serbia “Homoljski motivi” (Homolje Themes) takes place from August 27th till September 2nd. This manifestation traditionally includes performances of folk songs and dances, exhibitions of folk arts and crafts, contest in the preparation of traditional Homolje dishes, contest for the most beautiful shepherdess, exhibition of agricultural products, and performances of famous singers and bands.
The second to last day of the manifestation (traditionally Saturday) is reserved for the central event that features programs dedicated to the traditional culture. The main event on that day is the concert of traditional folk music.
This manifestation is the unique opportunity for visitors to see remarkable examples of folk music tradition – cheerful and temperamental Wallachian dances, calm and songful melodies, ritual dances and songs about everyday life, and unique folk instruments and ensembles, in traditional folk ambient…
