The central event of this year’s program in the Artget Gallery is the exhibition “Relocation – Immigrant Diary” by Božo Vasić that will be opened on August 10th.
This exhibition presents photos and videos within Vasić’s latest project “Relocation – Immigrant Diary” that was created during the author’s stay in art colonies in Berlin in 2010 and in New York in 2012. The project includes two series of photos: Immigrant Diary from Berlin and Illegal immigrants in New York, as well as videos Illegal immigrants in New York and Lost on the Grand Bazaar.
Through his works the author explores different political and social themes in the context of city architecture and urban surroundings. According to the author the city represents an „experimental laboratory“ where he explores various modern topics such as the lack of human rights, immigration issues, language barriers, mass consumerism, lack of individuality…
Božo Vasić lives and works in Toronto, Canada as a video artist, director and photographer. He finished film direction at the Faculty of drama in Belgrade. His art works have been exhibited at numerous biennales, galleries and museums around the world, and his documentary films and video works have been presented at numerous festivals. Vasić also won several international awards for his films.
