European Day of Languages

On the occasion of the European Day of Languages a series of manifestations is taking place on September 26th in the Gallery “Progres”, Knez Mihailova St. 27, with the aim to promote over 6,000 languages spoken worldwide.
On that occasion numerous activities for children, TV and radio programs, language lessons and conferences will be organized, all with the aim to promote language learning and to alert the public to the importance the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe.
The European Day of Languages has been celebrated since the European Year of Languages in 2001, when the Council of Europe declared a European Day of Languages to be celebrated on 26th of September each year. Since then it has been organized in 47 member countries of the Council of Europe.
This year’s European Day of Languages is being organized by the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade and Owen Owen Languages and Services from Belgrade.
