On the occasion of the European Heritage Days we’ll have the unique opportunity to see after a longer break the Belgrade mummy exhibited in the Archaeological collection of Faculty of Philosophy, on weekends in September, starting on September 22nd.
Exhibited in a special glass case for storing and exhibiting of the mummy, the Belgrade mummy will welcome the first visitors on Saturday, September 22nd.
Nesmin, better known as the Belgrade mummy, is surely the unique citizen of our capital city who “arrived” to Belgrade in 1888 accompanied by Hadži Pavle Ridjički who bought the mummy during his trip to Egypt “not for himself, but for Serbian people”.
The significance of this mummy is the fact that Nesmin revealed to scientists an entirely new, more profound, insight into the understanding of the legendary Egyptian Book of the Dead.
Guided tours will be at the disposal of all archeology and history admirers on weekends, from 12.00 to 20.00, and tours start every hour. The number of visitors is limited on 20 guests at a time.
Since the number of visitors is limited it is necessary to announce the visit by mail at beogradskamumija@narodnimuzej.rs or by calling the number 060 807 5035 ( +381 60 807 5035).
