Serbia’s recognition of Kosovo’s unilaterally declared independence will remain “an unfulfilled dream of Pristina’s separatists”, Director of the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo-Metohija Marko Djuric said on Thursday.

In reply to provincial officials, including the newly elected president of Kosovo-Metohija Hasim Taci, he underlined that Belgrade would like to have genuinely good and stable relations with Pristina and all Albanians in the region. However, they could not possibly be based on Pristina’s fantasies of a great state, but rather on joint efforts invested in practical deals to the benefit of citizens, he added.

Even the states that sponsored the unsuccessful secession are more frequently referring to it as an unfeasible state-making project, a hotbed of organised crime, a regional security threat, Djuric said in a statement.
